Searching Cases by Name
Search ARCourts labels its name-based option Participants. People, organizations, and case descriptions all fit there. Because Arkansas has plenty of similar names, use the name fields and the Cleveland County filter together for a clean Cleveland County case search. A shared name proves nothing, so treat each hit as its own record rather than one story.
- Choose Participants. Enter a Cleveland County last name and then a first name. Middle Name is available when it helps distinguish results.
- Expand Detail. Set County Name to Cleveland County and use Court Location when the correct court level is known.
- Use three or more letters when a partial Cleveland County match is useful. One or two first-name or last-name characters trigger an exact search.
- Run the Cleveland County search. Compare the court, case number, filing date, case type, style, and status before opening a result.
- Open the likely Cleveland County match. Review Docket Entries and any public Events or documents, then verify key facts with the proper clerk.
The Cleveland County participant form lists extra fields. Not every one is required or even helpful. Date of birth and driver's license number only work if the Cleveland County court actually linked those values to the participant.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Name | Text | No | With a Cleveland County last name, one or two characters search exactly; three or more permit exact or partial results. |
| Middle Name | Text | No | One character can return middle names that include it. |
| Last Name | Text | No | Also accepts one or two key words from an organization name. |
| Organization or Description | Text | No | An organization normally must match the way the court entered it. |
| County Name | Dropdown | No | Select Cleveland County for county-level results. |
| Court Location | Dropdown | No | Narrows the Cleveland County result to a participating court or location. |
Cleveland County Case Search Letter Rules
Name length changes how the portal behaves. Type one or two letters and it demands an exact Cleveland County match. Three or more letters pull back exact and partial results alike. A stubby query comes up empty. A fuller name delivers. That quiet rule explains the difference.
Organizations have their own quirk. The field wants text exactly as the Cleveland County court typed it. Guessing that form is risky. Skip the guess. Drop one or two key words into Last Name instead. Alias names can surface in person searches too. Compare the result fields before trusting any single row. The official CourtConnect replacement notice explains the move to the newer public search system.
That page is a handy Cleveland County checkpoint. An old bookmark pointed at the retired CourtConnect route ends there.
Cleveland County Case Search Participant Detail
Participant Detail adds several identity fields. They include Date of Birth, Driver's License Number, County Name, and Court Location for Cleveland County. A birth date goes in as MM/DD/YYYY. Those identity fields only work when the court entered and linked the value itself. So an empty result can mean missing indexed data rather than a missing Cleveland County case.
Begin with names plus the Cleveland County filter. Add detail only to find your own case or another legitimate public matter. When a narrow search flops, strip the extra field. Then compare the identity shown in the returned rows.
Searching by Case Number
Pick Cases once you hold the assigned Cleveland County number. The mode takes a case number or a citation number. Lift it straight off a notice, filing, receipt, or other court paper. Arkansas Circuit Court identifiers usually blend a county or location code, a division code, a two-digit year, and a sequence. There is no Cleveland County abbreviation sheet to consult. Read the number as printed.
A string like 13CV-24-00123 shows the coded shape you might meet. It is not a verified case or a format to rebuild. The letters often flag a division. CR stands for criminal, CV for civil, DR for domestic relations, PR for probate, and JV for juvenile. Enter the exact Cleveland County number. Never invent a lost digit, add punctuation from habit, or swap a filing year.
If the full number fails, drop the added filters first. Then confirm the court. It may belong to Cleveland County Circuit Court or Cleveland County State District Court. A district citation may surface faster through Citation Number. An appeal can also spawn a separate proceeding. That case carries its own new number in Cleveland County Circuit Court.
Cleveland County Case Search Court Filters
The county filter and the court-location filter do different jobs. County Name pins the search inside Cleveland County. Court Location splits the Cleveland County Circuit Court record from the Cleveland County State District Court record once the portal offers Rison. That split keeps a traffic citation from masquerading as a Circuit filing, or a major civil case from landing at the wrong clerk.
| Court level | Typical case types | Local contact |
|---|---|---|
| Cleveland County Circuit Court | Cleveland County felony, major civil, domestic relations, probate, and juvenile cases | Cleveland County Circuit Clerk, 870-325-6521 |
| Cleveland County State District Court, Rison | Cleveland County traffic, misdemeanor, violation, small claims, and limited civil cases | Cleveland County District Court, 870-325-7382 |

Location, in a Cleveland County lookup, means more than geography.
Cleveland County Case Search Clerk Channels
The portal is just one channel. A public Cleveland County file can also be inspected through the correct clerk, requested by mail, or asked about by phone to learn which office holds it, and some offices accept a fax. The court publishes no terminal locations, counter hours, email address, or drop box, so call before you travel or transmit anything.
A mailed Cleveland County inquiry should carry the exact case number if known, the case style, a rough filing year, the court or division, the item wanted, your return contact, and a request for a cost quote. Never send an assumed fee. A phone answer helps route a case, but it is not a certified court record.
What a Case Search Returns
A Cleveland County result row gives you enough to judge a case. You can tell whether it is worth opening. Inside a case view you may find participants, docket entries, events, milestones, and disposition data. Some case types add financial or violation details and public document images. Coverage varies with the case, the court's implementation, and security level. Not every case shows every tab.
| Case Number | The Cleveland County court-assigned identifier used to separate the file from cases with similar party names. |
|---|---|
| Style or Description | The Cleveland County caption naming sides or briefly describing the proceeding. |
| Court or Location | The Cleveland County court that owns the docket and the local clerk to contact. |
| Case Type | The Cleveland County classification, such as criminal, civil, domestic, probate, juvenile, or district matter. |
| Filed Date | The date the Cleveland County clerk accepted the case, which is not necessarily a hearing date. |
| Status | The recorded Cleveland County open, closed, or disposed state, subject to current entries and public access. |
| Docket Entries | The date-ordered Cleveland County actions and filings forming the public chronological core. |
| Events | Scheduled or completed Cleveland County hearings and other court events when public and entered. |
A Cleveland County entry can appear without a downloadable image. That gap does not mean the filing is missing. The public view simply limits what it shows, so the clerk who keeps the official file is the next stop.
Cleveland County Case Search Result Controls
Search ARCourts shows 25 result rows by default. You can switch to 50 or 100. Resize columns, filter beneath a heading, or sort through a column's heading control. Arrows move you between pages. Keep in mind these controls only reshuffle the records already returned. They cannot widen the portal's legal access or expose a sealed case.
Best use: filter a broad Cleveland County result by court, type, date, or case number before opening individual records.
An Apple device may block a public document by default. Enable pop-ups for the official portal and try the link again. If the image still fails to load, turn to the clerk channel rather than assuming no filing exists.
Statewide vs County Case Search
Search ARCourts is the statewide public layer. It is also the practical online portal for a Cleveland County case search. No separate local database sits behind it offering a deeper web search. The county distinction shows up after the search. The Circuit Clerk or District Court clerk owns the official file and can confirm material the public display leaves out.
| Search ARCourts | Cleveland County clerk channel |
|---|---|
| Searches many public Circuit and State District Court records across Arkansas | Handles the official local file for the court named in the case |
| Supports Cases, citation, and Participants searches with detail filters | Can address an older file, missing image, paper index, or copy request |
| Free informational access, not legal notice or official use | Produces clerk copies and certification when requested and available |
Arkansas Judiciary eFlex is not a third search option. It handles electronic filing, not public lookup. The AOC Contexte/ARCourts environment manages case data, Search ARCourts publishes the public layer, and the clerk keeps the authoritative local record.
Cleveland Case Search Technology Shift
The Arkansas AOC began replacing Public CourtConnect with Search ARCourts in 2024. Its 2026 Build Initiative described further work on a new ARCourts case-management application. District traffic and criminal functions remain in development. So labels and screens may shift over time. The official Cleveland County file stays with the same court office throughout. Function matters more than any icon. Pick the case or participant mode. Expand the detail, filter to Cleveland County, and read the record. When a result affects a court date or official filing, confirm locally.
Older Cleveland Case Search Fallbacks
Older Cleveland County records may predate broad digitization, and the portal has no single announced start year for electronic coverage. A blank result calls for a measured fallback, not an assumption that nothing exists. Check spelling, switch between Cases and Participants, drop narrow filters, select Cleveland County rather than a guessed location, and confirm the court level you searched. Local channels come next. Call the Circuit Clerk at 870-325-6521 or the District Court at 870-325-7382. Ask about counter inspection before you travel. Hours, a walk-in street address, and any public terminal are best confirmed by phone. The Circuit Clerk receives mail at P.O. Box 368, Rison, AR 71665, with fax 870-325-6144. The District Court receives mail at P.O. Box 606, Rison, AR 71665, with fax 870-325-6366. Call before faxing and ask about acceptance and cost arrangements. The official decennial census source publishes the incorporated-place data used elsewhere in the Cleveland County project.
That source also frames the county's rural setting. A statewide portal cuts travel here, but mail, fax, telephone, and clerk help still carry real weight.
Cleveland Case Search Docket Core
Docket Entries form the procedural spine of a public case view, ordered by date. The filing date opens the record, and each docket entry date marks when an action was entered. An Event is a scheduled or completed court occurrence. A disposition records an outcome or resolving status. Each field answers a different question.
- Docket Entries
- The Search ARCourts label for chronological actions and filings.
- Event
- A scheduled or completed hearing, trial, conference, or other court occurrence.
- Order
- A judge’s written direction or ruling.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome or status resolving a charge, claim, or case.
- Certified copy
- A clerk-attested reproduction used when an authoritative record is required.
Read the sequence, not just the last status label. A reset can supersede an earlier event, and a disposition may close a case without spelling out the judgment's full terms. For the actual next hearing, use the Cleveland County court calendar process and confirm directly.
Access and Restricted Cases
Arkansas Supreme Court Administrative Order 19 structures public access to court records, and Administrative Order 19.1 requires confidential information to be redacted from public versions where applicable. Juvenile records can be confidential under Arkansas Code § 9-27-309. A court can also seal material under valid authority. Search ARCourts shows only information and document images approved for public access.
Redaction, sealing, and expungement are three different things. Redaction strips protected values from an otherwise public record. Sealing blocks ordinary access to a document or case. Expungement follows the treatment a specific law sets. A missing result can therefore mean a spelling issue, an old paper record, incomplete portal coverage, or a lawful restriction.
A blank search proves little. It does not establish that no case was filed, that a file was destroyed, or that a party received a particular outcome.
An authorized party or counsel should contact the right Cleveland County clerk. Ask what proof of authority is required. The county publishes no identification checklist, so the clerk's answer governs. More search terms will not bypass a restriction. Search ARCourts itself warns that its information is not legal notice, is not for official use, and is not warranted complete.
