How to Search the Cleveland County Court Docket
Most public Cleveland County Circuit Court and State District Court cases can be searched from home. The tool is Search ARCourts. Start with the exact case or citation number if you have it. A name search also works for a Cleveland County docket lookup. But a shared name alone is not proof you found the right person. Before opening a record, confirm a few details. Check the Cleveland County court, the filing date, the case type, and the status. The portal labels its date-by-date register “Docket Entries.” Document images and other case events may live elsewhere in the same case view.
Narrow your Cleveland County docket search in this order:
- Choose Cases for a Cleveland County case number or citation number, or Participants for a person, organization, or case description.
- Expand Detail and select Cleveland County under County Name. Add Court Location when the Cleveland County court level is known.
- Compare the Cleveland County case number, case type, filing date, court, and style before opening a result.
- Read Cleveland County Docket Entries in date order, then check Events and any public documents.
- Call the correct Cleveland County clerk in Rison when a result, image, or current setting is unclear.
The official Search ARCourts interface shows the statewide starting point for Cleveland County:

That portal route reaches public case information, but ARCourts itself warns that the database is not an official record or legal notice.
Cleveland County Has Two Docket Counters
Arkansas splits trial work by court level, so Cleveland County runs two records counters. Circuit Clerk Brandy Herring holds the Circuit Court docket. It covers felonies, general civil disputes, domestic relations, probate, and juvenile matters. District Court Chief Clerk Kim Rogers keeps the Rison State District Court docket. That one handles traffic cases, misdemeanors, violations, and small claims. State directories sometimes list one of these officials as County Clerk too. County administrative files and Circuit Court judicial records are different things. Do not mix them up.

Read the court name printed on any citation, notice, or portal result before you request anything. That single check keeps a Cleveland County docket request from landing on the wrong counter.
What a Court Docket Shows
Think of a Cleveland County court docket as the procedural index to one case. It names the court and case number. It lists the parties in public roles, and it tracks filings and court actions by date. Future hearings and completed events can appear there. So can milestones, outcome information, violations, or public documents the court has released remotely. What you see on screen is only a public subset. An entry can exist on the Cleveland County record even when no image will open.
| Case identity | Cleveland County case number, style, court, location, type, filing date, and status. |
|---|---|
| Participants | Public party and organization names from Cleveland County with their roles. |
| Docket Entries | Date-ordered Cleveland County filings, orders, notices, and other recorded actions. |
| Events | Cleveland County hearings, trials, or other settings with date and time when entered. |
| Documents | Only images from Cleveland County approved for remote public access. |
| Outcome | Cleveland County disposition or milestone data when public and recorded. |
A docket entry is not the filed paper itself. A short Cleveland County entry may note that an order exists while the order carries the judge's full ruling. For the authoritative version, request the document or a certified copy from the clerk.
Search ARCourts Filters Cleveland County Results
Search ARCourts offers two ways to search Cleveland County cases. The Cases mode takes a court case number or a citation number. The Participants mode searches by first and last name, organization, or case description from a filing. Arkansas adds a quirk here. One or two first- or last-name characters run as exact text. Three or more characters can return exact or partial matches. Organization searches are generally exact-sensitive. Still, a key organization word can be placed in the Last Name field.
| Field | Cleveland County use | Cleveland County tactic |
|---|---|---|
| County Name | Limits statewide matches to Cleveland County | Select Cleveland County |
| Court Location | Separates Cleveland County court offices | Choose Cleveland County Circuit or Rison District when known |
| Case Type | Narrows the Cleveland County docket class | Match the Cleveland County notice or filing |
| Date range | Limits the Cleveland County filing period | Use only when the year for Cleveland County is reliable |
| Rows per page | Changes the Cleveland County result display | Choose 25, 50, or 100 |
If no match appears, strip away extra filters. A wrong location or year hides a Cleveland County case just as fast as a spelling error.
Which Courts Keep Dockets
Arkansas trial jurisdiction decides where a Cleveland County case starts. Circuit Court is the county's general-jurisdiction court within the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. State District Court is the lower court with a published Rison department. An appeal creates a brand-new case at a higher level, so the lower docket and the appeal docket stay separate records with separate case numbers.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to search |
|---|---|---|
| Cleveland County Circuit Court | Felony, major civil, domestic relations, probate, juvenile | Search ARCourts and Circuit Clerk |
| Cleveland County District Court, Rison | Traffic, misdemeanor, violation, small claim, limited civil | Search ARCourts and District Court clerk |
| Arkansas Court of Appeals and Supreme Court | State appellate matters | Arkansas Judiciary appellate resources |
| U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Arkansas | Separate federal cases | PACER and federal clerk |

Cleveland County Case Codes in Plain Terms
An Arkansas Circuit Court case number usually blends a county or location identifier, division letters, a two-digit year, and a sequence number. Copy the whole identifier from the filed notice rather than rebuilding it from memory. The letters are helpful clues. They cannot replace the court name and location shown with the result.
- CR
- Common Circuit division code for a criminal case.
- CV
- Common code for a general civil case.
- DR
- Domestic-relations matter in Circuit Court.
- PR
- Probate matter in Circuit Court.
- JV
- Juvenile matter, often subject to confidentiality limits.
- Docket Entries
- Search ARCourts label for the date-ordered register.
District Court and citation formats vary. Search the exact number, then confirm that Cleveland County and the right Rison court location appear on the result.
Finding Court Dates and Settings
Cleveland County posts no standalone daily-calendar portal. Start with Events in Search ARCourts. Then read the newest Docket Entries for a notice, order, reset, or continuance. A later entry can replace an earlier court date. If a public notice image opens, read it. The filed paper may list a courtroom or appearance method that a short event label leaves out.
Call 870-325-6521 for a Circuit setting or 870-325-7382 for a District Court or traffic setting. Give the full case number and ask whether the listed event is still current. Search ARCourts is not legal notice. So parties must follow served notices, orders, and direct court instructions. The full verification sequence is on the Cleveland County court calendar page.
Setting flow: Filed notice › docket entry › event listing › later reset or order › direct court confirmation.
When Cleveland County Search Finds Nothing
A blank docket result is rarely a dead end. The name spelling may be off. Or the court location, case type, or date filter may not match the file. Some older records were never fully digitized. A brand-new filing can take time to show up. Juvenile, sealed, or otherwise restricted cases stay out of public view. Start by loosening narrow filters and toggling between Cases and Participants. Type at least three letters for a partial-name search. And copy a known case number exactly.
Still nothing? Call the clerk who handles that case type. Ask whether the office holds the file. Ask, too, whether an index, paper record, or other local search option exists. Cleveland County does not advertise a public terminal or paper index. So confirm before driving to Rison. No clever search syntax can pull back content the law keeps restricted.
Missing document image? The filing may still exist. Search ARCourts can show a Docket Entry while withholding an image because of publication, format, digitization, or security settings.
Public Access to Dockets
Arkansas treats court records as public. But access follows rules set by the Arkansas Supreme Court, not a promise that everything lands online. Administrative Order 19 lays out what the public may see and what stays out. Administrative Order 19.1 goes further. It requires confidential data to be redacted from the public version and handled through protected filings when needed. State law also locks down certain juvenile records. That is why a public Cleveland County docket can omit identifiers, documents, or an entire restricted matter.
Access is real, but it is shaped by rule.
Key Rules:
Administrative Order 19 sets the core access rules and exclusions for Arkansas court records.
Administrative Order 19.1 requires protected information to be redacted from public filings.
Arkansas Code § 9-27-309 governs confidentiality and availability of specified juvenile records.
Arkansas Freedom of Information Act covers many public records, while court files follow specific judicial rules.
Open access serves real needs. People track their own cases, confirm a public hearing, dig into local history, and watch how Cleveland County court work unfolds. Choose certification when the record must carry official weight.
From Arkansas eFlex to Docket Entries
Three systems share the work. Arkansas eFlex lets eligible users file electronically. The AOC Contexte and ARCourts environment handles court case administration behind the scenes. Search ARCourts is the piece the public actually touches. Filing something online does not make it a public document, though. The clerk accepts and indexes the submission. Court security rules decide who may see it. Only approved public data ever reaches the public view of a Cleveland County court docket.
The AOC Build Initiative page documents the courts' continued modernization work:

That 2026 roadmap means screen labels and functions can change. The Cleveland County clerks still keep the local official files.
The Clerk and Docket Records
The Arkansas Judiciary lists Brandy Herring as Cleveland County Circuit Clerk. Her office receives and indexes Circuit filings and keeps the docket entries for each case. It also preserves documents and orders. And it issues plain or certified copies on request. A mailed request should be specific. Name the case number, the case style, the filing year, and the court or division. Add the exact document you want. Say whether you need certification, your return contact, and a request for a cost quote. The office does not publish Cleveland-specific copy fees, counter hours, accepted payment, or turnaround. Ask the clerk directly.

Got a notice tied to a District Court matter? If it lists a traffic case, misdemeanor, violation, small claim, or limited civil case, take it to the District Court clerk for that court docket.
Cleveland County Copies and Portal Prints
Viewing a case for free in the portal is fine for identifying it. That print is not certified. A plain copy just reproduces what was filed. A certified copy adds the clerk's official attestation. So check with the receiving office about which form it wants before you order. Fees for plain copies, certification, and searches are not published for Cleveland County. Ask for a quote first.
| Product | Known cost | Best source |
|---|---|---|
| Search ARCourts case data | Free | Statewide portal |
| Plain local copy | Not published | Correct local clerk |
| Certified local copy | Not published | Correct local clerk |
| AOC recurring bulk setup and first month | $1,200 | AOC bulk process, not a single case |
Need data at scale instead of one document? Compiled AOC data requests fill that role. They cannot substitute for a clerk request covering a single Cleveland County order or judgment.
Cleveland County’s Paper Record History
Paper came first in Cleveland County, and by a wide margin. Online dockets arrived only recently. Arkansas Heritage notes that the county put up a small frame clerk's building on the courthouse lawn in 1902. The old courthouse had run short on work and storage space. Court and county records stayed there until the brick courthouse opened in 1911. Few Arkansas counties built a separate record store like that. Safe paper custody clearly mattered to public administration.
Digital tools changed access rather than custody. Public CourtConnect gave way to Search ARCourts starting in 2024. A new statewide case-management system is still in the works. No official source states when digitization began. Older Cleveland County records may still need local help because of that. With a small rural service area, phone, mail, and fax matter all the more when a public image is absent.
Cleveland County Docket Scale and Access
The 2020 Census counted 7,550 residents in Cleveland County. The official estimate for July 1, 2025 put the figure at 7,224. Density that year came in at 12.6 people per square mile. Those numbers sketch a rural service area. They say nothing about court caseload. For case counts, the Arkansas Judiciary publishes the statistics that matter. Its figures cover dockets and filings rather than population.
The Census QuickFacts profile provides the county context:

Searching from home saves a trip. Still, questions about a file's custody, a current hearing date, or an official copy of a court record go to the local clerks.
Court Dockets by City in Cleveland County
Two incorporated cities appear in the official 2020 Census ranking for Cleveland County. Rison holds the county seat. It also hosts the State District Court department. Kingsland has no municipal or district-court department of its own listed in the current Arkansas Judiciary directory. A city name alone won't tell you which court holds the case. So read the notice on each entry. Apply the Cleveland County and Court Location filters. Then call the office named there.
Rison Court Docket
Find the Rison State District Court docket, traffic settings, and the split between District and Circuit clerks.
Kingsland Court Docket
Trace Kingsland matters to the named Rison District Court or Cleveland County Circuit Court without inventing a city court.
Rison counted 967 residents in the 2020 Census, while Kingsland counted 347. New Edinburg is a census-designated place rather than an incorporated city, so it gets no separate municipal-court page.
